You have two options to whiten your teeth. You can either consult your dentist or, you can use teeth whitening products available over the counter to whiten your teeth at home. But while doing it, either way, teeth care is very important.

Your teeth can be discolored due to numerous reasons. However, there are various ways to get one-tone and even three-tone whiter teeth. As there are hundreds of methods available, you can become overwhelmed in regard to the safety of the procedures.
There are 3 main categories of teeth whitening or teeth care methods. These are:

However, you need to be patient and consistent during the treatment. The time to whiten your teeth would largely depend on the discoloration type you have and the method you use.
Teeth Whitening Products and Other At-Home Treatment Options
If you stained teeth but do not feel like going to the dentist for the treatment due to cost issues, you can always try at-home options. But these teeth whitening products do not have hydrogen peroxide in an appropriate amount. This means that they might not as effective as the dentist treatments do. It can take you months to whiten your teeth.
There are many over the counter teeth whitening products that have the seal acceptance of American Dental Association. This seal indicates that the products are completely safe to use. However, for them to work, you need to follow the given usage instructions properly.
Whitening toothpaste does not have hydrogen peroxide. Instead, they only work with a variety of substances to whiten your teeth surface. Toothpaste with blue covarine might be more effective on your teeth.
The strips do contain a small amount of hydrogen peroxide to whiten your teeth more quickly than the toothpaste. However, you have to use them twice of thrice in a day. A great selection of whitening strips is available with effective bleaching agent extracts.
Should You Do Teeth Whitening?
Teeth whitening agents are safe to use if you follow the manufacturers’ instructions properly. In-office treatments, gels, strips, toothpaste and tray-based whiteners are safe to use as long as you are supervising your teeth care. In fact, the American Dental Association also recommends using teeth whitening products.
